Movember Prostate Cancer Awareness in UAE & Middleeast
It is Movember (no shave November) and some UAE residents and companys are ready to raise awareness on prostate cancer, the fourth most prevalent disease among men in the country. While the survival rate of prostate cancer is high if diagnosed early, many patients in the UAE visit their doctor presenting symptoms in later stages of the disease. Regular medical check-ups hardly figure on the priority list of Middle East men.
A survey by fashion retailer Centrepoint stated 90 per cent of the respondents admitted they visit a mall at least once a month, but rarely step inside a clinic to get themselves screened for diseases. - This is the state of mens health and awareness which is why Movember is required to spreach awareness among macho men who must understand the value of early checks and prevention.
The moustache is a talking point and we go from there and have a conversation about Movember and men’s health. In sounds clichéd but if you can help just one person think about their health, then that is a good thing.
Few years ago not many people in the UAE had heard of Movember but I think there is a lot more engagement with the movement now. It has really resonated with people and more people are actively participating to raise funds and awareness than to just copy friends as a trend or style
